Project Green showcase at Plaza Singapura: mimi mono x Stuffed Toys Hospital
Stuffed Toys Hospital collaborated with mimi mono to upcycle a memory bear out of the beautifully patterned baby kimonos provided. Purpose of the showcase is to educate the public on different ways they can reduce, reuse, recycle and rethink items.
Documentation: upcycling a memory bear from baby kimonos
Materials provided
Materials provided by mimi mono: 1 yellow baby kimono and 1 piece of pink patterned fabric.
Design phase
Thoughtfully pieced: retaining the kimono detail on the bear.
Stuffing the bear and adding details
A pellet bag was made as a weight inserted into the bear's bum, to help it sit.
Stuffing the bear with polyester stuffings to give it volume.
Handsewn facial features for the bear: a pair of eyes and a nose.
Tags from Stuffed Toys Hospital and mimi mono, sewn onto each side of the bear.
