Project Green showcase at Plaza Singapura: mimi mono x Stuffed Toys Hospital

mimi.mono sustainability exhibition with Stuffed Toys Hospital at Plaza Singapura clothes upcycled

Stuffed Toys Hospital collaborated with mimi mono to upcycle a memory bear out of the beautifully patterned baby kimonos provided. Purpose of the showcase is to educate the public on different ways they can reduce, reuse, recycle and rethink items.

Materials provided

Materials provided by mimi mono: 1 yellow baby kimono and 1 piece of pink patterned fabric.

Design phase

Cut-outs to assembly of different parts of the bear
Thoughtfully pieced: retaining the kimono detail on the bear.

Stuffing the bear and adding details

Pellet bags were made to give the bear a weight on its bum, so it can sit proper,
A pellet bag was made as a weight inserted into the bear's bum, to help it sit.

Stuffing the bear with polyester stuffings.

Sewn on a pair of eyes and a nose on the bear's face.
Handsewn facial features for the bear: a pair of eyes and a nose.
